Step-by-Step Guide to the Installation of our Garden Pods

Updated: Oct 8

Are you considering a garden pod, but wondering how you’d ever build it in your garden?

Well, you can put the toolbox back in the shed, because we have a professional installation team on hand to install all Pods & Pavilions Pods. Our fitters will ensure everything is assembled correctly, so you don’t need to worry about anything other than enjoying your shiny new pod. Best of all, installation is completely free!*

Let’s take a closer look at the installation process of your new garden pod.

*Please note that free installation is available to mainland UK addresses only and exclusions apply. For the Scottish Highlands, Channel Islands and other outlying areas, please get in touch for a delivery and installation quote.

Step 1

The first step is choosing the right outdoor pod for you and your garden. You might have your eye on one, but it’s important to check it’ll fit before you commit!

We advise you to measure your outside area, remembering to consider the space needed for access. We specify the area required for each pod in the product description – for example, the Rotating Seater Garden Pod needs an area of 250cm diameter to rotate freely.

Generally speaking, our garden pods do not require planning permission. However, there may be some exceptions to this – for example, if you live in an area called ‘designated land’, if your pod is to be installed at the front of your house, or if you live in a listed property. If any of these apply to you, investigate further before placing your order.

To discuss your options or arrange a friendly video consultation before ordering, please call us on 07940 831707. We’ll be able to recommend the perfect pod for your space and take you through the additional extras and interior options. You can also arrange to view the pods at our Dorset show garden, Sculpture by the Lakes.

Step 2

Once you’ve selected your garden pod, the next step is ensuring you’ve got the correct base for it. We need a hardstanding surface in place before we can complete the installation. The surface can be paving, brick, concrete, tiles, or decking, as long as it’s level.

Please note that if you want our team to install your outdoor pod on a lawn, you will need to arrange for a separate contractor to install a hardstanding base first.

In the description of each pod, we also specify the area of the hardstanding base required. This will be different from the total area required due to the oval shape of our pods.

Step 3

After you’ve placed your order, we’ll contact you to let you know your installation date well in advance so you can make sure you’re available. Our Ornate Garden Pods are built-to-order in our factory and are often ready for delivery within just 2 – 4 weeks from your order date.

If the delivery and installation date we offer isn’t convenient for you, we’ll look at the schedule and provide alternative dates until we find one that works for everyone.

If you need to change your installation date, we ask you to give us at least 1 week’s notice. If you fail to notify us and our installation team cannot complete the installation, there will be a charge to cover their time and fuel, so please do let us know in advance if you need to reschedule.

Step 4

The installation team will arrive on the morning of your arranged installation date, usually between 7 and 8 am (they like an early start!)

Upon arrival, the team will check the hardstanding base is ready for your new summerhouse (and winterhouse!) pod and that they have room to bring all the parts to it. As long as the entrance to the site is the width of a standard single door, they’ll be able to get everything through. Then, they’ll get to work!

You might be surprised at how quickly your ornate garden pod begins to take shape. Our team are professional pod installers who do this every day, so they know what they’re doing and will work far more quickly and efficiently than someone who isn’t familiar with these unique garden buildings would. Your new pod will be fully installed by the end of the day.

The team will ask you to sign an installation note to confirm you’re happy with the installation. You’ll then be able to enjoy your first cuppa from inside your incredible new summerhouse garden pod!

Step 5

After the fitters leave, you can arrange for a qualified electrician to hook your pod up to your power source. The electrician will need to run a cable from your mains power supply into the connector plugs at the back of the pod. This will allow you to use any built-in electrical features of your pod, such as LED lighting, heating, Bluetooth speakers, or USB ports.

Step 6

Once you’re connected to the mains, there’ll be no stopping you! Invite your friends for a dinner party under the stars, set up a garden office pod, or simply shut out the outside world and cosy up with a good book and a glass of vino. There are so many incredible benefits to Ornate Garden Pods that you’ll soon wonder what you ever did without one!
