When you’re planning your pod, the base you choose can completely change its look and feel. The right foundation adds character, enhances your garden layout, and can make your pod look like it’s always belonged there. Here are some great options to consider, depending on your space and style.
Raised Platforms

Adding height to your pod gives it more presence in the garden and can help you make the most of your view. A raised stand is also useful for sloping or uneven ground, and it keeps the structure away from damp areas. It’s a simple way to turn your pod into a real feature.
Wooden Decking

Timber decking brings warmth and texture, blending beautifully with natural surroundings. It creates a lovely flow between your pod and the garden, with space to add chairs or planters around it. A small deck can make a huge difference to how usable and inviting the area feels.
Composite Decking

Composite boards give a similar look to timber but without the maintenance. They’re durable, modern, and available in a range of colours, which makes them a great choice for contemporary gardens or coastal locations where you want something long-lasting and weather resistant.
Flagstones or Paving Slabs

A classic option for a solid and stylish base. Natural stone creates a rustic, timeless look, while large-format porcelain gives a clean, modern finish. Flagstones work well when you want your pod to feel grounded and substantial.
Rocky Outcrops

Sometimes the most stunning spots are already there. If your garden has a rocky bank or natural outcrop, it can make the perfect setting. Just enough of a flat surface to create a stable base, and the pod looks like it’s part of the landscape — sculptural, intriguing, and completely unique.
Cobbles or Gravel

For more informal gardens, cobbles or gravel create a softer look. They allow for natural drainage and can be mixed with planting to blend the pod gently into its surroundings. This type of base is especially lovely for wilder or cottage-style gardens.
Mix and Match

You don’t have to stick to one material. Combining textures — like timber decking with a gravel surround, or a stone path leading to the pod — can give a tailored, design-led finish.
Whichever option you choose, the base should reflect your garden’s character and the way you plan to use your pod. Whether you want a simple stone terrace, a platform that opens up your view, or a rocky perch that feels part of the landscape, the right base will make your pod feel perfectly at home.
