A Grand Arrival: The Grande Deluxe Chic Garden Pod Lands at Sculpture by the Lakes

Tuesday the 13th May 2025 was no ordinary day at the Pods and Pavilions show garden. It was a day of muscle, manoeuvring, and sheer determination as we welcomed the majestic Grande Deluxe Chic Garden Pod to its new home—perched elegantly on the floating pontoon at the iconic Sculpture by the Lakes.

We knew it wasn’t going to be easy. After all, this isn’t just any pod. The Grande Deluxe Chic weighs in at a hefty 850kg and arrives in sections that require precision, strength, and a bit of choreography to install—especially when the destination involves navigating narrow woodland paths and expensive works of art!

The day began early. With sunrise glinting off the lake, our team was already in motion. The pod components were offloaded by hand from the van and then transported, piece by piece, via trailer and quad bike. The route was picturesque but challenging—snaking through leafy corridors where branches had to be gently raised and sculptures respectfully avoided.

Time was tight. With the park opening to the public at 10am, we were racing the clock to get all the materials in position and the site looking pristine before visitors arrived. It felt more like a covert mission than an installation! But teamwork, determination (and a bit of sweat) saw us through.

Under the blazing sun - and on what must have been one of the hottest days of the year - the Ornate Garden Pod build began in earnest. Ten hours later, the final panel clicked into place, the last polish was applied, and we stood back to admire what might just be our most spectacular install yet.
